Shop at any of the 12 participating CapitaMalls in Singapore that are part of the CAPITASTAR programme and you will be richly rewarded.

On top of its existing CapitaCard loyalty programme, CapitaMalls Asia (CMA) has rolled out a new card-less rewards system. Introduced in December last year, the CAPITASTAR rewards programme allows shoppers to enjoy benefits on top of existing rebates from CapitaCard and other rewards at 12 CapitaMalls: Bugis Junction, Bukit Panjang Plaza, Clarke Quay, Funan DigitaLife Mall, IMM, Junction 8, Lot One, Plaza Singapura, Raffles City Singapore, Rivervale Mall, Sembawang Shopping Centre and Tampines Mall. The CAPITASTAR programme offers members STAR$ whenever they make a purchase in any of the abovementioned CapitaMalls*. The accumulated STAR$ can be exchanged for CapitaVouchers to be used at CapitaMalls in Singapore. In short, shoppers get more value with CAPITASTAR.

“CAPITASTAR is our way of thanking and rewarding shoppers for shopping at CapitaMalls. With 12 participating CapitaMalls, this is the largest rewards programme by any mall manager in Singapore,” said
Mr Lim Beng Chee, CEO of CapitaMalls Asia.

Added Mr Simon Ho, CEO of CapitaMall Trust Management Limited, “We want to know our shoppers better. As we get to know our shoppers really well, we will be able to provide all the services that they need so that our malls can continue to be relevant and attract shoppers.”

Stellar Ideas to Get Shoppers Started

The idea for CAPITASTAR originated from Mr Lim who wanted a CMA group-wide shopper loyalty programme. It took the team six months to work out all the details and mechanics to devise a sophisticated system that would make it effortless on the part of the shoppers to record and retrieve STAR$.

Like many of CapitaLand’s initiatives, CAPITASTAR is a green programme because it is a card-less system. To enjoy the benefits, shoppers simply need to sign up as members via the CAPITASTAR website (www.capitastar.com), at any of the 41 CAPITASTAR self-service kiosks found within participating CapitaMalls, or by using a CAPITASTAR app for iPhones and iPads.

Once you become a member, the fun begins. Spend a minimum of S$20 and you can begin to earn STAR$. Every dollar spent at supermarkets and food courts earns you one STAR$. Every dollar spent at other stores gets you five STAR$. You can accumulate up to 1,000 STAR$ a day. Every 5,000 STAR$ will enable you to redeem a S$5 CapitaVoucher.

As CAPITASTAR is a card-less system, your spending is recorded every time you scan your receipts at the self-help kiosks or upload the images of your receipts into your account at the CAPITASTAR website. Making use of new platforms and technology, iPhone and iPad users can use the CAPITASTAR app to upload a picture of their receipts to earn STAR$.

A Constellation of Rewards

To attract new subscriptions and participation in CAPITASTAR, a total of 220 million STAR$ will be given away through Monthly Draws and a Grand Draw in 2012. Each month, 100 winners will walk away with 100,000 STAR$ each. The Grand Draw will see 100 winners awarded one million STAR$ each. Every S$20 spent at the participating malls gives you one chance at the draw.

At the soft launch of CAPITASTAR last December, CMA conducted a lucky draw called “Shopping Is On Us”. Designed to attract shoppers to sign up as CAPITASTAR members, 100 winners were picked. Each of the winners won the amount they spent, as stated on their receipts, in the form of CapitaVouchers. Those who charged their purchases using CapitaCard won double the amount spent.

“CAPITASTAR is one of the best loyalty programmes I’ve ever joined. The kiosk is user-friendly and even my children know how to scan the receipts. Furthermore, I can easily earn STAR$ across participating CapitaMalls which are all very accessible,” said Norashikin Sahali, a winner of the “Shopping Is On Us” lucky draw.

“It is a surprising and amazing gift from CAPITASTAR for the new year 2012! I can’t wait to shop using CapitaVouchers,” said Rachel, another lucky draw winner.

More than 1,800 stores across the 12 participating CapitaMalls in Singapore are part of CAPITASTAR’s rewards programme. Plans to organise joint-promotional activities with participating CAPITASTAR retailers are also well under way.

This is the second time my receipt is declined. First one was through the apps with the reason that date was not seen. I cannot verify this since the uploaded photo is longer in the folder. Second one, the receipt of Unity Plaza Singapura on 20th September 2015. This time I used the machine at B1 Plaza Singapura. It is declined because Merchant is Unknown? Can you clarify? So far I had no problem with scanning Unity receipts.

The receipt scanned for purchase at Bukit Panjang Plaza on 5th September was declined out of the reason that the date was unclear. It was a long receipt, and I thought I had captured the date. However I couldn't have a look at the receipt scanned through the Apps since the screen capture was no longer the folder.

Same with me. On 31st May I made a purchase of $85 from GNC Plaza Singapura. The shopkeeper at GNC assured me that I could earn Capita Stars. I scanned my receipt at the self-service kiosk located at B1. I was very disappointed when I saw that it was declined with no reasons. This is not the first time happened and I always thought it's the faulty of the Android apps. I'd appreciate if this can be resolved. I still keep the receipt.

Declined reason due to max of the day, i have only 1 receipt been approved, whereby the rest were been rejected. What are the criteria for the submission? there is not clear statement nor explanation pertaining to the receipt submission. And you only choose the smallest amount to approve, if not willing to award the capitastar for large amount purchase, why still hold this event? You are indirectly discouraging people from spending more at capitamall.

Hi, I have scanned a invoice from this shop and during my purchase that day the seller says her cashier machine has problem so she gave me invoce instead. I scanned the invoice and was declined with reason receipt number unknown. In this first place how would I know if the cashier machine has been spoilt that day when I do the purchase and if capital and is going to penalize me for not accepting the invoice given by the shop owner then that is really ridiculous. Purchase were made but the issue lies in the shop owner cashier machine so if you would want the real receipt get it from the owner as I only have the invoice provided by the seller of the shop!
I demand a reasonable reply on this.

I scanned 2 receipts at Plaza Sing on 21 June 2013. one for a $40+ bill at Tim Ho Wan at plaza sing, another for a $22.90 purchase at The Body Shop at Tampines Mall. BOTH WERE DECLINED!! why is this so? this is not the first time it has happened. stop CHEATING your customers of their points!

They will try to confuse and make it counterintuitive as possible so that you end up forgetting about it

Same thing happened again. Receipt of more than $200 from Newstead was declined, no reasons given. It happened last year in Dec with one of my receipts from Hush Puppy temp store (ground floor, near espirit). I emailed Cust. Service, and your rep. got back to me, explaining that mall and mechant detail were not captured in the receipt. I wrote back to explain that there's a stamp on the mall & merchant detail by the cashier (i forgot why) hence it's not visible and not due to my scanning. Doesn't help that the ink on the merchant's receipt is rather faint also. After that, he did not write back and I never got my points. Oh, and during his only reply, he told me that if receipts are too long, the content of the receipts is not needed, and we can just fold in the middle. I did that for the Newstead receipt, and it got declined.

Sometimes you have to take the trouble to try and find a kiosk, queue and scan, only to have your receipts declined.

When I signed up the membership, I don't remember having to use the name in NRIC but now that I'm approaching the 5000pt-mark, i wonder if I'll be allowed to redeem the vouchers. The name I registered is different from the NRIC although the surname is the same.

May I request for CapitaLand to review this policy and extend the validity duration to earn Star$? It is a hassle to scan every single receipt following each purchase. Would it not be better if you could allow shoppers to accumulate the receipts so they can scan them at the kiosk in a single visit?

Actually, the purchase was at TM Soo Koo, i scanned the receipt later cos i only received it when i collected the item 1 week later as alteration was required. If you have followed the instruction prompted on the screen of the self-service kiosk, the receipt will be scanned with the details facing downwards. Thereafter, the kiosk will show the captured image of the receipt and if everything is captured correctly, the reader will confirm and proceed to submit the receipt. Following which you can log on to any of the 3 touchpoints (i.e self-service kiosk, mobile app or CAPITASTAR website) to check on transaction history. Once approved, STAR$ will be credited into your account within 7 working days.

To create a password via CAPITASTAR iphone app or website, you need to enter your email address during registration via the Self-Service Kiosk. If you have entered your email address at registration, you can click on “Do not have a password. Click here” via the CAPITASTAR iphone app on the Members' Application page. You will be prompted to create a password and log in thereafter.

However, if you did not create a password during the initial registration stage, you can call our helpline 6631 9931 to update the email add and create a password then.
